Genus: Cordyline

Species: Fruitcosa

The Cordyline Negra has a commanding presence with its unusual burgundy-black foliage and long stem. The growth displays green foliage against the mature two-toned dark green and deep foliage. The striking dark leaves of this plant exude sophistication, providing wonderful colour throughout the year and making the Negra perfect as both an outdoor plant and an indoor feature.

Cordylines are very easy to grow and are low maintenance. Negra will take part shade to full sun.

Average water needs - water regularly during hot periods, but do not over water.

Cordylines can thrive in a variety of soil conditions, but this plant will grow best in well-drained soil rich in organic matter.

From the second year onwards, prune in November to keep the plant compact and bushy. Remove any leaves that have browned over winter to keep the plant looking fresh. Fertilise in September, December and March with an organic fertiliser.
